The combination of home and auto insurance can help drivers save hundreds of dollars annually while protecting two of their most valuable assets. Fortunately, most major insurance companies allow you to bundle both policies for a convenient discount, and comparative shopping can help you determine which company will offer you the most savings.
About Go Auto Insurance
Go Auto operates in two states, Louisiana and Nevada, with its headquarters located in the former. Founded in 2009, it is a newcomer to the insurance industry with just over ten years in business.
Go Auto advertises itself as a low cost insurance company and aims to achieve this through the use of a direct purchase system combined with local offices. Their agents advertise as commission-free, which generally means lower costs; the overhead of operational offices, however, adds some costs compared to a centralized system like Geico.
This is an unusual approach for a smaller company operating in just two states, but it allows consumers a choice outside of the giants without the added cost of agent fees.
Go Auto is not listed as a non-standard insurer, although the way they are presented tends to give that impression. Like most insurance companies, drivers with a clean record will get the best rates, but this company can offer some leeway for those with a troubled record.
Go to car insurance policies
The Go Auto website spends a lot of time talking about its low-cost auto coverage, but does not offer information on this coverage. The website does not offer a page dedicated to the actual insurance program.
The Go Auto website claims that they keep fees low by skipping expensive add-ons; This indicates that we can expect only the basics from this company.
That means liability insurance that starts with state minimums and a few basic options, including comprehensive coverage and collision coverage to meet loan requirements. We can’t say if they offer common options like rental reimbursement insurance or towing.
CURE is an auto insurance company with a unique approach to underwriting in NJ and PA that primarily considers driving history. It’s a good option for drivers who may have below-average credit history, but have minimal accidents and traffic violations on their records.

Go Auto offers online quotes. Local offices are also available by phone or in person for a quote. The online system allows you to save and retrieve quotes. The phone number for Go Auto Insurance is (225) 926-7000.
Since Go Auto only operates in two states, neither of which is our usual sample state, we were unable to compare their rates. We’d expect them to be lower than those offered by agent-driven companies, but we’d be surprised if they were able to beat the rates of major direct-purchase insurers, at least for drivers with a clean record.
What is the most reliable auto insurance company?
Best Overall: Amica Mutual
Amica Mutual has a long history of providing excellent coverage and customer service. The provider was ranked # 1 in J.D.’s 2020 U.S. Auto Insurance Study. Power in the New England region and No. 1 in the nation in Power’s 2019 US Auto Claims Satisfaction Study.
Go to auto insurance claims
Go Auto offers an online auto insurance claim form where a claim can be submitted at any time. We were unable to find more information about claims on the company’s website.
There doesn’t seem to be a phone number listed, which is odd as most companies offer a toll-free number for 24-hour claims, and the site lacks information on the general claims process. A phone number may be provided to the insured when a policy is purchased, but as we see in the next section, that does not appear to be the case.
Claims can likely also be filed by contacting the local office in your area, but the site doesn’t specifically say so.
Go to auto insurance ratings and consumer reviews
Go Auto is rated A + by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), although they are not currently accredited. Three complaints have been filed in the last three years. One of them was closed in the last 12 months.
Angry Consumer has 71 reviews for this company with an overall rating of 1.8. A look at the reviews results in a bit of confusion; many of them don’t make much sense or are not very useful by nature. There are a large number of complaints about the incorrect functioning of the website and the difficulty of speaking to a real person.
This ties in with our previous note on the lack of any kind of toll-free central number, which we expect most insurance companies to offer. It seems that Go Auto expects policyholders to use the website for most purposes, but the company does not provide a solid online experience.
There is only one review on Yelp, a negative comment about the cost of the policy.
Opt for car insurance: The Basics
When a company advertises low-cost insurance, it’s always good to remember the old adage “you get what you pay for”; seems to apply here. Even if Go Auto rates are good, there seems to be a lack of support for policyholders.
The direct purchase approach does not work well without a system to handle customer needs efficiently and Go Auto seems to fail on that front. It is likely that most people looking for a good direct shopping experience do better with one of the larger companies whose centralized customer service is readily available.
Does Go Auto have a grace period?
Other car insurance reviews for GoAuto
They also have the gall to give you just a 10-day grace period to pay your monthly payment. They don’t offer extensions, so if you have to change your due date, they will charge you for an arm and a leg. That’s adequate insurance without a headache.
Does Go Auto have an application?
The app is here!
